Making an essay plan

You may now want to produce an outline essay plan for your next assignment. This can be a plan for your coursework assignment or an essay title provided by your tutor. An essay plan can be written or diagrammatic, but should include:


1. Identification of the key issues to be covered, in an introduction

2. The main arguments and the order they will be dealt with

3. Examples, or other evidence (e.g. references) to support arguments

4. Your interpretation or analysis of the issues

5. Your conclusions (even if tentative)

6. Identification of any implications of your conclusion


Produce a realistic time plan of when, where and how you are going to write this essay before the submission date. Remember to include time for proof reading and self-assessment.
