Doctors in West Dallas have diagnosed 15 people suffering from asbestos related diseases and some more people with spotting on their lungs that might lead to asbestos diseases. The cause of all these asbestos problems is said to be a local mineral processing plant where asbestos is used.

The doctors checked around 421 people for asbestos illnesses that include former workers of the plant, their family members as well as the current workers. Out of this, the X-rays of 252 people detected 15 people who show signs of asbestos illness and others who will need further evaluation.

These were the results of only a small group of people among the thousands who were exposed to asbestos in the previous years. The concern over this issue arose when in 2005 the Federal Government expressed its apprehension regarding asbestos exposure by Texas Vermiculite Plant, operated by W.R. Grace & Co.

The plant operated in the state from 1953 to 1992 exposing thousands of people to this toxic. Since that time, more than 300 people have worked at the plant out of which 80 have died.

There are still people waiting to be checked and lists are being made to check the people who are still left. The government is urging people to come up for the tests so that proper precautions and treatment plans can be made and precious lives can be saved from deadly mesothelioma cancer and other asbestos disease.
